That 1 Guy

Well, what was it?  I remember my first song was One.  That was because I saw Songs in the Key of Beotch at the library one day and decided to listen because I heard That 1 Guy was touring with Buckethead.  I was shocked at what I heard, but I loved it.  How about you?

I agree about delighting in seeing people converted. I love watching the door during a show for people coming in late, looking at the stage, and tilting their head like a dog who heard a strange noise.

I'm having a hard time remembering (the "fuzzies") what was the first thing I heard... probably Weasel Potpie or One. I remember hearing/seeing that he was opening for Buckethead and then I had to find out what he was all about. So I found out that he was playing here in Ottawa and I got the bug. Of course, there was never any looking back. I was (like most) immediately addicted and forced to sell my body on the streetcorner to feed my habit.. after seeing him LIVE the need only got worse, pretty soon I was up to 2 or 3 CD's a day... then when The Frankenstein Brothers came along my prayers had been answered (I said repeatedly on uToob comments that they should oughtta do an album!) and I'm still holding out for a follow-up. Those two are in a class all their own and they make beautiful music together.

I have seen T1G 6 times now I think, and it just keeps on getting better. I always refer to myself as "That 1 Fan" (it was waayyyy worse on the old messageboard where there was like me and 3 other people (ok, I exaggerate, maybe 5) and posts were on a monthly, almost yearly frequency) and I volunteer every chance I get. Annie (my 6 yr. old Daughter) is a huge fan now too and both my kids call him "Uncle Mike". My Wife is finally on-board now too after last Summer's Folkfest, she finally got to see him in action and like the rest of us, the hook was/is undeniable.

Seeing is believing. His show is %99 visual, and that's saying something because his music is just so damned good too! It's always fun to watch an entire audience be "converted" right in front of your eyes. He has that effect.

I heard ButtMachine on a Last.fm station for DEATH CUBE K of all things. It had just finished with some scary dark ambient and by then I had stopped paying attention to what I was listening to. It got my attention back when I heard "BUTT MACHINE.. BUTT MACHINE I SAID BUTTMACHINE. JUST LIKE I TOLD 'YAH"
Most amazing moment ever.
"Seeing is believing" This is SO true! One of the greatest things about a That 1 Guy show is watching a crowd of people instantly become life long fans!

Buttmachine was my first. Like many, I first heard of him when I bought my Buckethead tickets, I looked him up and the video was on his site...I have been hooked ever since! I must say, Buckethead was interesting but That 1 Guy ruined his show...he was SO much better! I am actually opening for him tomorrow night in Huntsville...I am so ready to see him again!
unknowingly the first song i heard was butt machine when i was watching weeds , but i didnt find this out till after i found out about that 1 guy, the first song i heard that i knew was him was probably rainbow when he opened for bucket head at the mishawaka here in co in 08
I honestly don't remember what song was the first. I just remember seeing That1Guy when he came to Decorah, IA for the "Live on Winnebago" concert. He was playing the same year as The Youngblood Brass Band. That was a long time ago. Probably 8(ish) years ago. I remember hearing "One" and "Weasel Pot-pie." I still have the CD I bought then. It was Songs in the Key of Beotch, but before the album had the faucet as the cover art.

I've been a fan ever since. I haven't had a chance to ever see him live again. But I'll be there on March 23 when he's in Cleveland!

Glad to be able to have a chance to listen again. T1G is amazing.
It was either Weasel Pot Pie or Its Raining Meat. Both were great.

Cool wrap-up from Red Bull Creation

"One other highlight of the day was the performance by an incredibly talented artist called “That 1 Guy”. He used a self-designed and built instrument he calls the “Magic Pipe”. His music was funky and cool, and if you had your eyes closed you would never believe it was coming from a 7ft series of pipes! Be sure to check out his website, and if he’s coming to your town GO SEE HIM!"…

Thanks for coming out David!  Full review can be found here.

"Utilizing every style under the sun, from Heavy Metal, to lounge room Jazz, That 1 Guy loops his own rhythms, beats, melodies and harmonies, piecing together remarkable songs in the most interesting, off-beat chords. Exploring trail-blazing experimental music that's still…
