That 1 Guy

I first discovered That One Guy at Blissfest in Northern Michigan in 2008. Regrettably due to uncontrollable circumstances he couldn't play but I checked him out on youtube and was hooked.
Mike re-booked for 09 Bliss with the new pipe and put on an amazing show but my 10 year old son couldn't make it that year. I picked up T1G's cd's and got some of his advice for my cauldron bass (but that's another story) my son became a huge fan over the nexy year as well from the cd's I bought.
This year we brought all the kids and Mike played Sunday twice. My son was right up front and at the end of the Main-stage show and caught the "pick" card that he threw to the crowd.
We got in line for autographs and my son got the card and his own copy of Packs a Wallop signed.
We went backstage and plugged my video camera in to charge up for his 2nd performance at 2nd stage. I managed to get a moment of Mikes time there to try out my homemade upright "cauldron" bass, inspired by the magic pipe. (he made it sound real good!) got some more advice for tweeks in the setup and he gave it his signature on the front. My son got his Bliss T-shirt signed and got to shake Mikes hand as well.
We made it to the second stage with a charged camera (videos will be posted as soon as the desktops up and running) and got right up front and center. T1G was never better despite the loss of a drumstick and a power outage. (he used the audience as the pipe) He had a guest fire dancer midshow and my son caught a playing card.
As we walked back to camp he told me that it was the best night of his life. epic.
Thanks mike.

Great story! =) Thanks for sharing. I got a card too!
Kids & Mike go SO well together.. another thing I'm noticing (being an almost "charter member" fan) is that his fans (not unlike himself) are salt-of-the-earth type people, the repeat offenders tend to be real good people. Chat up anyone before or after a set, you'll find the nicest, most genuine folks to be in attendance!

Hooray for Mike & his better-than-average fan-base!

smooches,

Cool wrap-up from Red Bull Creation

"One other highlight of the day was the performance by an incredibly talented artist called “That 1 Guy”. He used a self-designed and built instrument he calls the “Magic Pipe”. His music was funky and cool, and if you had your eyes closed you would never believe it was coming from a 7ft series of pipes! Be sure to check out his website, and if he’s coming to your town GO SEE HIM!"…
