My theory on "Warn the Kids"

Is this a song celebrating the rebirth of the magic pipe after the originals theft in 2008?
"We have technology, we can rebuild him"
"With egos bruised and elbows sore, We'll build it bigger, and make it better than before"
"The magic's back... THE MAGIC PIPE!"
T1G never made a big deal about the incident, but this sounds like his response to me. Positive, as always!

Last Winter when I saw Mike in Wakefield, I had a couple of "canned" questions for him from my Daughter Annie (6), one of which was: "Annie & I have a bet, in Weasel Pot Pie she thinks it sounds like you're saying 'yucky' and I think it sounds like you're saying 'yummy', so which is it?" His answer: "Well it depends on if you like the weasel meat or not, if you like it then it's yummy, if you don't then it's yucky." So I made the comment that it was meant to be a mystery then. I always kind of fancied the idea that Warn The Kids was loosely based on this exchange. Also, one of her other questions was "How do you float like that on the t-shirt?" Mike's answer: "It's magic!".

So there's my 2¢ on it.

Oh, and also another thing, last Summer at Bluesfest Mike told me that my buddy Eddie said something to him that "stuck" with him, about the whole pipe theft incident, he said "Why not write a song about it? It could be your 2112!" Mike said he hadn't stopped thinking about that since Eddie said it to him. So maybe a little from column A and a little from column B? Maybe we're both "right"?

He didn't want to make a big deal about it. He wanted to stay positive and optimistic.
It happened in Canada just before he was to play my hometown festival, Blissfest in 08'.
he re-scheduled for 09'with the new pipe made from lighter materials and some design improvements. (still uses duct tape) LOL

true, but if im right about the song lyrics it just means he got a great song out of the deal, and made some major upgrades on the magic pipe that may not have happened otherwise. when life throws lemons at you... make lemonade!!

wow i didnt know the pipe was stolen either, im pretty sure 08 ( september i beleive) was when i first found out about that 1 guy when he played with buckethead at the mishawaka here in colorado, so i wonder if when i seen him he had the origonal or not.

It would have been right around the first weekend in July 08' when it happened. my Blissfest was the next weekend.

hmmm i think it was in like september ish that i seen him, and im pretty sure it was 08 but not 100% sure... if i am right though that means the magic pipe 2.0 was made in no time, like 2 months..... its madness

Right around the time i started thinking that "Warn the Kids" was dedicated to the magic pipe, I heard about it the thief that happened. It's sooo depressing to know that someone would want to take that away from Mike and his "friends"!! I'm so glad this didn't stop the momentum of That1guy. Thanks Mike for all your hard work and dedication!! Thanks for sticking to your guns and sharing the live music!!!

From what I understand, he's building another backup right now as well. not sure how accurate that info is.

If I remember our conversation right from a couple months ago, Mike said he's building another backup pipe right now. not sure what the status is.
