That 1 Guy

So I thought I'd share my favorite tracks in different ways and see what other peoples are as well.  Maybe this will give T1G more ideas of what to play on tour if he hasn't played some tracks in a while.

By Album:

Songs in the Key of Beotch

One/It's Raining Meat

-One is my favorite one to sing, but Raining Meat is awesome live and is very catchy

The Moon is Disgusting

Mustaches

-Kinda another hard decision but this one is awesome!  Waited a couple years to hear it and was extremely pumped for the Mustache and Laser Beams tour for exactly that reason.

Packs A Wallop

Packs a Wallop

-I haven't listened to this album enough to realize its full potential but this song has been my favorite since I first heard it.  Its just awesome!

Overall

Mustaches

-Its been a long time favorite but its always hard to choose since each album is filled with Gold and so many different themes.  Fruit Trilogy is awesome as is Buttmachine but Mustaches takes the win.

Now your thoughts!

My top songs are

Moon Is Disgusting - when i saw if the first time i had never heard this song and it just blew me away and this song really cemented my liking of T1G

How bout them Holes- Just a really good song

Sole- easily his best instrumental song and was ecstatic that he finally put out a studio version

Boots-I had the 'beatboxing' part of this song stuck in my head for a month and couldnt remember who it was by when i figured it out i still couldnt get it out of my head

Nature Is Awesome- an acoustic song that is just extremely catchy

One - first song i ever heard and the lyrics are just really cool

Step Into Striped lights- the blend of Tom Waits and T1Gs sound is just incredible on this

overall i think i would have to say my favorite is either Sole or Moon Is Disgusting don't think i cant choose

My favorites are...

The Moon Is Disgusting - This is the song that got me hooked on That 1 Guy when I saw him play it on a Youtube video. The metal-ish way it sounds is just.. wow! <3

Step Into Striped Light - Every time I hear the chorus it makes me just want to rock out.

Bananas - Love the lyrics. The "happy howl and waggle ugly gawk and gaggle" part.. I have to sing it every time.

Forgotten Whales - This has to be my favorite instrumental of his. It's got that new age sound, yet techno-like beat at times. So awesome.

Packs A Wallop - Love it. Every time I hear that punching sound effect, I put my fist to my cheek. xD

It was difficult to narrow it down, but that is my top 23.

Are we only talking studio recordings?  'Cause That 1 Guy, as we all know, is a live-music performer and for most (if not all) of the songs below, I'm really referring to live versions I've seen (experienced).

  • One (or two I guess - technically) of my favorites has (have) got to be Oranges and Bananas ("Right now I'm gonna do a couple fruit songs for ya..the first one is called Oranges and then I'm gonna segway seamlessly into Bananas") - check it out on YouTube ("Oranges & Bananas" at the Continental Club in Houston, TX - Nov. 29, 2007).  Seen him do this particular duo a couple times (once by my request - thanks!) but I could listen to him jam ALL of the fruit songs all night.
  • Otherwise for me (read on to find out why) it's GOTTA be Weasel Potpie.  This is because (other than the fact that it's awesome and guaranteed to get a laugh from first timers when they hear the "er-ee") the first time I EVER saw That 1 Guy (State Theater in Falls Church, VA in 2005 or 2006), he opened with Weasel Potpie.  I will never forget standing around waiting for Buckethead to come on, staring at this big metal pipe, and my friend leans over as Mike comes on the stage and says to me "watch this you're gonna love this" - I've been hooked on the Magic Pipe ever since.
  • OH OH another huge favorite of mine is Sole - so amazingly awesome.  Anyone who's reading this and has real info on what he uses to play when he's strumming the string on the main pipe, can you please post on here or e-mail me?  I'd love to know.  Even though I've seen it live, his strumming hand moves to fast to really tell.  Looks like a card or comb or something to that effect.
  • ANYTHING and EVERYTHING played with the Magic Boot or the Magic Saw
  • And to name a few others, The Moon is Disgusting (It's Made of Cheese), How 'bout Them Holes in the Moon, Nature is Awesome! (from the lesser-known album "Let's Hear That 1 Guy"), and Laser Beams (Packs A Wallop!)
  • Everything else?  Can I do that?

Oh and Forgotten Whales.  I love the looped background vocals.  But seriously I don't even think I could narrow it down to 23 like Tracie Jay.

Honestly I think I more wrote about the ones that hold special significance for me for one reason or another.

The moon is disgusting is a personal fave. I always knew that frickin moon was made of cheese but a newer favorite is Stones Throw off of "packs a wallop". I could listen to that song for over and over for the rest of my life and be a better man because of it. Beautiful song. Wisconsin loves That1Guy!!!!!

You "always knew that frickin moon was made of cheese"...BUT, good sir, were you also presently aware of the fact that it is simultaneously disgusting AND made of cheese??  Though subtle, the distinction could mean the difference between life and death one day..you never know.

Ha I kid, I kid.

as of today Luck Bean
yesterday was  bananas awesome harmonics in that
Modern Man, live... that rocks the house. Also, now that I've seen Luck Bean live... wow. That's all I'll say. That tune is so metal~!
TEN, that is the funnest song for me for so many reasons, to numerous to list, more than TEN reasons. I laugh each time I hear it and it's the #1 played song on my iTunes library, nonetheless, Buttmachine will always be my favorite That 1 Guy song eternally.

A---B---C---D---E---F---G---6---Six belongs to Satan that means six, six ain't for me!

Would love to know the history behind this song, it sounds like it was a fun night of recording. SHIT FUCK FIRE
